Located far away, somewhere on a country road, time seems to stand still for this small house. The place is untouched by vandalism, except drawers emptied and some holes in the walls. For the rest, it's a real pleasure to find an abandoned place without any graffiti or romping excess on the furniture.

When the plants have no name

Update (2013-08-23) : Many thanks to those who sent me some information about this place. So, it seems like this building was used to heat other buildings of the military complex who is now abandoned.

It is rather unusual that I can not find any info about a abandoned place . Even when it is a place with many graffiti. Not that these are clear indications about the name and utility of the factory, but with the quantity of graffiti, it means that this place is deserted for a long time already.

Abandoned houses in the state of New York

Abandoned for more modern constructions, burned or left behind to adrift once the occupants died, abandoned houses populate the countryside. Hidden under vegetation who tries to conquer its old territory, sometimes the time prevents explorers from entering into these incredible places by collapsing the foundations or by twisting the walls like old rags.

Few of them will be restored after many years left to themselves. Most of the time, years will turn them down or will be by the owners when municipal councils will be tired to see these building agonize (and visited by kids).

The abandoned Dundas Castle

Built in 1924 in Roscoe, New York state, the Dundas Castle was modeled after a 15th century’s castle in Scotland, located near Edinburgh. The American version of the Dundas Castle was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The abandoned Stelfil plant in Lachine

Victim of the globalization of markets, the history of Stelfil Ltd. has suddenly stopped on March 28, 2008 for the factory and its hundred employees. The company has been decorated in 2002 in the Great manufacturing company category by the Mouvement québécois de la qualité and its future looked very promising after several years of unprofitability. But, on November 3, 2005, the worldwide leader, Mittal Steel (now ArcelorMittal) announced its acquisition. Then, three years later, the factory is closed.

The abandoned waterpark in Piedmont

Once upon a time, a small piece of land bordering Autoroute 15 in Piedmont came to life every summer as a place of amusement. The Cascades d'Eau Piedmont, home of the Laurentian's iconic giant faucet, was Quebec's oldest water park when it ceased operations in 2010, 27 years after its gates opened for the first time.

The Dickson incinerator in Montreal

Built in 1954, the Dickson incinerator was, at the time, the most modern one in North America. It was built to replace these old incinerators where horses were used for harvesting waste.

In the 1920s, the city of Montreal was struggling with dumps that gave off strong emanations, sources of diseases of any kind. That explains why at the end of the decade, it was decided to build a first incinerator at the corner of Papineau and des Carrières Street and a second on Atwater Street.

The Brock tunnel, relic of the past

Named after General Isaac Brock died at the Battle of Queestown October 13, 1812 (conflict between Canada and the United States, where the British army crushed the Americans), the tunnel was built between 1889 and 1895. Known as the tunnel Beaudry, because it was an extension of the street of the same name, it was 208 meters long, only 60 less than the Titanic. Its construction cost $ 163,750 and it was dug with picks and shovels from both ends. At the meeting point of the two teams, it was installed a commemorative plaque to mark the event.

The former incinerator des Carrières in Montreal

Abandoned since December 1993, the former incinerator des Carrières, known as the incinerator # 3 is now partly used as a warehouse by the City of Montreal. It is also one of the few places where there have power in a portion of the building.

The former military base of Saint-Hubert

Dismantled in 1995 by the federal government, the former military base of Saint-Hubert is located close to the airport of the same name. In 1928, the Ministry of National Defence inaugurated the airport to connect by the sky Canada to the United States. But with the triggering of World War II, the airport will become a military airbase of great importance. In 1941, civilian traffic will be transferred to Dorval and an important part of the Saint-Hubert airport will become a real village in a city welcoming the rookies for their  war pilot license.
