Home of Anne of Green Gables

Prince-Edouard-Island (Prince Edward Island), Canada

It was supposed to be a quiet family trip. Destination: the province of Prince Edward Island and the Madeleine islands, a small archipelago consisting of a half-dozen of islands interconnected by bridges and roads. For readers outside of Canada, these islands are located in the Gulf of St Lawrence, at the entrance of North America by the Atlantic ocean.

Anyway, we decided to spend few days in the province of Prince Edward Island before taking the ferry to the Madeleine islands. And it is here, on this island with around hundred thousand people, fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery and her heroine ... Anne of Green Gables that I found the Toy'r'us of rurex ... Nay: it was the Eldorado, the abandoned houses's Klondike or even better: the earthly paradise of old fisherman's houses abandoned in favor of bungalows lost in a grassy desert without trees.

In rural areas, villages contain, for the most part, a church and three houses plus one abandoned house ... I exaggerate hardly . Each time, you can't drive more than 10 minutes without seeing one of these beauties. Granted, some were ugly and without any interest, but at the corner of a mud road, you discover real pearls. I saw large Victorian houses, motels, amusement parks, abandoned farms ... All!

I was there with the little family, so I could not stop anywhere. I've explored some abandoned houses here and there, but we could easily spent two weeks doing only rurex session without being able to enjoy all the possibilities of the island. In fact, I was like a child in a candy store where I could try everything, but time was running out. Furthermore, my girlfriend and my daughter doesn't really share my passion... Then you will understand that I was rather limited in time. Regardless, I will return for sure! If Detroit is the paradise of urbex, I dare say the Maritimes which are closest to the rurex Eden...

Anyway, here are some shots I've made on the island…
